Just recently, I came across some great pieces of design and art works (at the INDEX trade exhibition in Dubai, September 2018) and thought I’d share with you guys:

• The very very talented ‘Needle Painting’ artist, Ms. Rajrani Sisodia hailing from Jaipur, truly creates one-of-a-kind masterpieces of unmatched grandeur, detailing and artisanry. The depth in each piece of work and the ethereal interplay of shadow and light are genuinely awe-inspiring and literally breathe life into the Needle Paintings! It is by varying the direction of the thread to reflect light differently (much like the strokes of a painting brush), that the 3D-lifelike effect is created.

SOME FUN FACTS ABOUT GEORGIA (from our tour guides – see below for details):

• It’s not called Georgia, Georgians call it Sakartvelo.
• The first Europeans came from Georgia.
• It’s considered to be the cradle of wine-making all over the world.
• No one speaks the Georgian language except for the Georgians!
• It has 12 different climate zones.
• It houses 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites (Narikala fortress, Jvari Monastery, and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral) .
• It has Europe’s highest permanent settlement – the village of Ushguli is the highest village in Europe.
• And finally, Georgia is home to one of the oldest Jewish communities.

And now about Tbilisi, the city we visited:

TBILISI, GEORGIA has got one of the most varied topographies; its mountains and hills serving as Holy grounds for the ancient medieval churches and the monasteries are as mesmerizing as the deep blue creeks and rivers hypnotizing. With the global demand continuously increasing and resource depletion on the rise a pressing concern, the entire world is turning towards and developing a penchant for green eco tips and sustainable living; be it reducing the use of plastics, using paper only when an utmost necessity, recycling/upcycling, conserving energy and water, reducing electricity usage or installing solar panels. Like all industries, Interior Designing has also made prominent strides towards going green (plants, green walls/roofs, local sourcing and the likes of transparent solar panels and bio/solar wallpapers becoming the wave of the future ) . The good news is, that terms such as eco/environmentally friendly no longer signal towards the ‘meh’ and boring interior choices having little or zero aesthetic appeal!
